The Novice Education Support and Training (NEST) project consortium believes that effective mentoring of novice teachers could save time and costs, increasing effectiveness, job satisfaction, retention and attractiveness of the profession.

The Nest Support Project provides training, professional development, and on-site consultation for teachers, therapists, and administrators, and workshops and a newsletter for Nest families. Other activities include research, presentations at national professional organizations, and articles and other publications on relevant topics.

I am a DOE teacher, but my experience with NEST is as a parent. My son is in first grade this year and joined the program in September. NEST is considered a micro ICT. The class size increases every year, but for perspective, the first grade classroom is 15 children, 4 with autism and 11 general Ed.

NEST equips teachers and youth leaders with age-appropriate curriculum and resources to educate and empower youth – teaching them how to avoid being trafficked, how to stand up for victims of trafficking, and how to spread the word in their communities so that sexual exploitation and human trafficking become a thing of the past.
