Charging Rate at 120v (Nema 5-15) is better than advertised
Jul 23, 2014 · I wanted to have two set of extension cables handle when travel. One for the NEMA 5-15 connection and another for the NEMA 10-30. With those two I can at least cover 95+% of scenario when visiting people houses and not having a super charger within 10 miles around me. Public charging suck as BLINK and CHARGEPOINT is great if you are at a mall.

Sep 5, 2018 · I saw people converted NEMA 5-20 to NEMA 6-20. But the only A/C outlet I have in my garage is a NEMA 5-15. There is also no separate Panel in my garage. An Tesla approved electrician told me I needed a big project to add NEMA 14-50. It costs $3200. That's why I am thinking about whether there is inexpensive way to upgrade from the slow NEMA 5-15.

Apr 15, 2015 · Even before the Tesla NEMA 6-15 or 6-20 adapters existed you shouldn't have wired a NEMA 5-15 or 5-20 with 240V. You could have bought some adapter that convert NEMA 6-15 or 6-20 to NEMA 5-15 or 5-20 and keep it in the car. That would minimize the risk of someone plugging a 120V device to a 240V socket.
