Usermaatre Amenemope was an ancient Egyptian pharaoh of the 21st Dynasty who ruled from 1001 to 992 BC or 993 to 984 BC. Amenemope's burial is notable for being one of three entirely intact royal burials known from ancient Egypt.

This mask was part of the mummy-shaped coffin of gilded wood of Amenemope. The mask is composed of thick sheets of gold molded with the features of the king. The round face of the king is surmounted by the uraeus, the royal cobra, which is attached to the forehead.

Amenemope was a God's Father of Amun, Scribe of the Double Treasury of the Lord of the Two Lands and the House of Amun, and a member of a prominent priestly family at Thebes that had retained the same offices for generations. The two coffins are said to come from Sheikh Abd el-Qurna, in Western Thebes.
