It can be discerned early on that the Masked Man is Claus, so their identity swapping is more effective in-universe, though it can catch less attuned players off guard.

Sep 13, 2021 · (talking about POST timeskip) the other character's ages can be discussed, but i'd say Lucas is 12 (simple logic, Ness and Lucas are similiarly sized, so their ages are most likely the same. But Ness was 12 in the japanese release, and 13 in the american release, but Mother 3 never had a release outside of japan, therefore making Lucas a 12yo ...

Jul 31, 2019 · I think with Mother 3, Itoi wanted to stress the importance of that. The main theme of every Mother game, to me, is the idea of childhood, and maturation. Ninten matures through exploration and adventure, Ness matures through bravery and endurance, Lucas matures through grief and responsibility.
Something I just realized about Mother 3's main characters.
Feb 24, 2023 · They're all the opposite of Mother 1 and 2's main characters in someway. Ness/Ninten have a loving mom and a MIA dad. Lucas has a negligent dad and MIA mom. Ness/Ninten are "chosen ones" with an exclusive power. Lucas chooses to go on an adventure on his own accord, and shares his power with Masked Man/Claus.

Jun 6, 2021 · The first 3 times I played the game, I never made any negative associations, mostly out of innocence. Later, I heard of what other people implied and I could kind of see it, but it feels so disconnected from the rest of the game. I just rewatched the cutscene and it is shown that it is just Lucas holding his breath underwater.
