May 10, 2024 · I believe this is the first ever GMRS by Midland to include that feature which does make a difference in areas with a lot of RF pollution. Even though NAR experienced long battery life in his test, not allowing for procurement or attachment of spare batteries if out in the wilderness for days, is just short-sighted.

Jan 19, 2022 · Midland has also been making radios for 30+ years. My first GMRS radio was a 4 channel crystal radio from Midland. You ordered it with the channel you got licensed on. The other advantage is Midland makes a GMRS radio only. Its not a modified ham radio or other CCR based chip radio. While its not top of the line its built for GMRS and GMRS only.

Dec 10, 2024 · Who ever Midland has producing their antennae does a great job in producing a good antennae with good VSWRs on GMRS freqs. Unfortunately, the operating band range is very narrow and that is why they work great on GMRS freqs, if you have a good groundplane. And they do not require any tuning which is a good thing for a majority of the GMRS users.

Nov 5, 2024 · Thanks all for the quick responses. Clarification to my original post. 1. The quiet/loud issue is worse when talking with widband radios, but it is still present when using our Midland handhelds (narrowband) to talk to the MXT275 and MXT275 to MXT275. The Narrowband handled 5W Midlands come through the MXT275 narrowband much …

Oct 18, 2024 · Also, I have two very old rarely used Midland LXT310 HT, they work as new, not repeater capable. My two other radios, again H3 and H9 are in my vehicle, used as mobile radios. H3 for GMRS is connected to Midland's MXTA12 mag mount antenna with Midland's ghost antenna, MXTA25, then as needed we use MXTA26; their ghost antenna is a very good antenna.
newbie Midland MXT275 antenna placement question
Aug 24, 2018 · i measured my SWR, and it came in a roughly 1.4:1 on the GMRS channels (at 15w, measured 3W on the meter). on some channels it was closer to 1.35:1. on a lower-power FRS channel it was actually 1.2 - and surprisingly with the tailgate opened it measured 1.5 (worse)! i also checked my ground continuity from various points on the antenna base, mount, …

5 days ago · The Phantom Midland antenna mounted on the OPs Jeep will work fine on GMRS freqs especially in the City on the trail with other Jeeps. As a temporary install while I was waiting for my Larsen Glassmount Antenna to be shipped, I use this location in my 23 Wrangler Rubi 2 Dr. and I was surprised that I was able to hit several repeaters miles away.

Jan 12, 2021 · In the meantime the fact remains that folks buying a 40 or 50 watt Midland radio that delivers only 50% of the deviation permitted by GMRS rules, are getting an inferior product that has weak deviation and poor repeater CTCSS access.

Oct 31, 2024 · Ground plane or not, depending on the mount. I want to say it'd be the 4502 for GMRS (450-470mhz)...have used the 430-450 model and it was great out of the package without tuning. Have had great results with the comet 2x4sr for ham, but the swr was a little high for GMRS, though not unusable (2.0:1 on 467, iirc)
