Every single source available refers to Mettaton as a male....But Undyne refers to Napstablook as "they" for some reason, implying that they (and likely Hapatablook/Mettaton) don't have a gender. Maybe Mettaton decided to be male because he felt like it. It doesn't really matter, it's a guy, and every monster knows it.
