Aug 14, 2020 · I’ve had my longnose hawkfish for 9 months and he’s been a model citizen. Almost overnight, he became incredibly aggressive towards my fairy wrasses. Forced one wrasse into constant hiding, wouldn’t eat, and the other just flies around the tank trying to get away from him. The wrasses were also added first.
Longnose hawk fish reef safe? | Reef2Reef
Aug 9, 2022 · Hawkfish are 50/50 whether they will attack shrimp or not. They wont touch corals or snails so yes they are reef safe, just its a gamble whether they will try and eat your shrimp or not. And no, size does NOT matter to a hawkfish. A 1.5in hawkfish will try and kill a 3 inch cleaner shrimp if it decides to.
Longnose hawkfish - What’s your experience | Reef2Reef
May 8, 2022 · I love Longnose Hawkfish. I have had two different ones… the first guy was a model citizen and soooo friendly. My current one is also very friendly, curious and literally eats from my hand. I’m not blaming anyone but when I added him to his tank, there were 7 peppermint shrimp and now there are none. He’s still cute though, so it’s okay.
Longnose Hawkfish Compatibility | Reef2Reef
Jan 2, 2018 · If it is a peppermint pistol shrimp I would be concerned because they are super tiny and would make a decent snack for the longnose hawkfish eventually, even if the gobies are helping it by keeping a lookout. Edit: saw the candy cane shrimp reference, my bad haha. Yea I wouldn't be surprised if the hawkfish eventually starts to go after it.

Mar 28, 2015 · Hawkfish should be considered a danger to smaller inverts, snails for the most part should be okay but I would be wary with shrimp and crabs. I've only had a longnose hawkfish by itself but I have seen some pairings in some tanks.
Longnose/flame hawkfish | Reef2Reef
Jul 22, 2015 · margin perhaps longnose are more laid back but neither hawkfish are aggressive at all, relative to other hawkfish species like Hawaiian and arc-eye. I have had longnose for about 6 months over the years. Made a stupid mistake and poor guy didn't make it. They're pretty hardy though, but I would say flame are a bit hardier all else equal.
Will my cleaner shrimp be safe with long nose hawkfish?
Apr 2, 2018 · It was very idyllic. There was my long-nosed hawkfish, perched on a rock. And there below was a peppermint shrimp (or maybe a camel? We kept them then; Saron shrimp too.) How peaceful. Suddenly, the hawkfish lunges down and chomps right …
Blenny, Goby, & Longnose hawkfish compatibility quesion
May 16, 2021 · Hey all! After the recent passing of my royal gramma, I am down to 3 fish in my 30 gallon tank. I have a pair of clowns and a tailspot blenny. This summer I also lost my Yasha Goby, so I’m in the market for some new fish. I was wondering if I could keep a longnose hawk, the blenny, and a shrimp...

Jul 5, 2021 · I'm quite obsessed with the longnose hawkfish. I saw it a the store, and I love how these little fish really have their own personality. Only one tiny problem. I currently have one cleaner shrimp, and I'm planning on adding another one (I've got the feeling he's a bit lonely, poor fella) Having a pistol shrimp and a goby was also on my list.
Longnose Hawkfish Illness? | Reef2Reef
Apr 8, 2024 · Hello, I recently moved switched to a new tank. I've had a longnose hawkfish and a yellow eye kole tang for almost 3 years now. They have been in the old tank for the entire time. I started this new tank and moved livestock over, including the hawkfish. The hawkfish just stopped eating completely, never acted interested.
