A lecture hall (or lecture theatre) is a large room used for instruction, typically at a college or university. Unlike a traditional classroom with a capacity normally between one and fifty, the capacity of lecture halls is usually measured in the hundreds.

A Lecture theatre is different from other study rooms, like a classroom, or laboratory, or any other activity room. It is designed in a way that students can directly focus on the lecturer on the screen, without any disturbance from the other students.

A large room typically used for instruction, lecture theatres differ from that of the traditional classroom or other learning spaces. The lecture theatre design is based on that of the auditorium, designed for an audience and performer relationship, providing spectators with excellent visibility of the main stage or platform.
