Leathered granite edges? Advice please! - Houzz
We have steel grey leathered granite in my kitchen on our perimeter counters, it has the simple eased edge. We love it. If something was spilled it beaded up. No stains, even on the limestone. We used Sealer vs Enhancer because we did not want to change the color or shiny surface.

We have the same Santa Cecilia granite on the perimeter, and our existing honey oak cabinets will be painted the same warm white. In a large city about 90 minutes away, I found a gorgeous slab of leathered black pearl granite for the larger island we’re putting in, but because of the pandemic restrictions, my husband can’t travel to see it.

Mine does have a fair amount of movement and color variation against a black background so that helps, but it is the easiest maintenance by far of all three.

Leathered granite seams - Houzz

leathered granite-bakers and experienced cooks opinion please!
For me a leathered black granite was the perfect compromise with low maintenance and a nice sheen. It isn't perfectly matte. There is a soft sheen where the light hits it, but nothing like the reflective surface of a glossy finished granite.

However, the island was topped with a slightly more modern white granite with beautiful gray movement to add interest and a hard, reliable prep surface. The island measures an impressive 7 feet by 10 feet, matches the same clean lines, but was custom painted in a deep grayed turquoise to make a statement.

Iced/ polished is an added process after granite is leathered that a fabricator does in the workshop prior to installation. They told me he gently polishes the raised portions of leathered slab to give it a subtle sheen. It is hard to capture it exactly in any photos, but is very obvious in real life.
