Kovu was born to Zira. He had an elder brother, Nuka, and an elder sister, Vitani. The family lived in the Pride Lands under the reign of Scar, who chose Kovu to be his heir. Sometime after this, Simba returned to the Pride Lands, battled and defeated Scar, and took his place as king.

Former Disney CEO Michael Eisner very wisely axed that idea since it would make Kovu and Kiara first cousins, which would certainly complicate this family tree.

Kovu is the youngest son of Zira, who is a close follower of Scar; his two older siblings are Nuka and Vitani. He was apparently born at some point during Scar's reign, as Scar hand-picked him to be his successor, which greatly annoyed Nuka. As a result, he was referred to by the Outsiders as the Chosen One.

It could be that the truth that Scar is Kovu's father was shrouded in mystery until it was lost, or it could be that Scar was flattered by an unrelated young lion cub who looked so much like him.

With no direct descendant alive, Kovu and Kiara are now the closest living relatives to Scar, making them part of his extended family tree. Kovu And Kiara’s Lineage Scar and Zira’s lineage may have come to an end, but the legacy of lions carries on with Kovu and Kiara’s line.

May 28, 2022 · If Nuka was Scar’s son, my bet is that she would have given him the preferential treatment Kovu received, instead of virtually ignoring and bullying him until she needed him. So while Zira apparently hooked up with lion/s who bore a physical resemblance to Scar, none of her cubs have any blood relationship to him whatsoever.
