Our church, re’ese adbarat debre selam kidist mariam, was founded in 1987 to fulfill these noble objectives. With over 1500 registered members, we are the largest Ethiopian Orthodox parish in the Washington metropolitan area.

The Kidist Mariam Ethiopian Orthodox Cathedral (St. Mary) was founded by a small group of faithful Ethiopians and established as a nonprofit religious corporation in the state of Georgia in 1987. Initially, Kidist Mariam (St.Mary) Church was serving its congregation in a chapel rented from Central Presbyterian Church in downtown Atlanta.

The mission of the Debrebirhan Selassie and Kidist Mariam EOTC Sunday's Children Education Program is to mold the lives of our children in the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Christian teachings through Holy Scripture and Holy Tradition and to develop each child spiritually to live a Christ-centered life.
