I decided to try and improve performance by installing an EVGA Hardware-accelerated NVidia graphics card. This could mean that things weren't built in the proper order to allow kdenlive to pick everything up. This is when a program like sbopkg with its sqg utility come in handy.

WEBJul 9, 2020 · However, ffmpeg was updated to version 4.3 somewhat recently in -current, so I again rebuilt it with libx264 enabled, but now kdenlive doesn't recognize that it has the x264 encoder. Switching back to ffmpeg-4.2.2 fixed the problem. I'm assuming this is because ffmpeg-4.3 is too new for the version of kdenlive in ktown, but I could be wrong.
