Jameel Sadik "Jim" Al-Khalili (Arabic: جميل صادق الخليلي; born 20 September 1962) [4] is an Iraqi-British theoretical physicist and science populariser. He is professor of theoretical physics and chair in the public engagement in science at the University of Surrey.

Jim Al-Khalili obtained his PhD (1986–1989) in nuclear reaction theory from the University of Surrey, during which he developed a reaction model to study the importance of the tensor force in polarized deuteron scattering at high energies. His work helped tie down certain aspects of the role of the strong force in nuclear scattering.
