Irpin (Ukrainian: Ірпінь, IPA: ⓘ) is a city on the Irpin River in Bucha Raion, Kyiv Oblast, northern Ukraine. It is located next to the capital Kyiv. Irpin hosts the administration of Irpin urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. [1] The city has a population of 65,167 (2022 estimate). [2]

As part of the Russian offensive on Kyiv during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, a battle took place for control of the city of Irpin. The combatants were elements of the Russian Armed Forces and Ukrainian Ground Forces. By 28 March 2022 Ukrainian forces recaptured the city. [15][16]
