Dec 8, 2008 · The Howa 1500, like the Savage, is a great value for the money. To say that Howa makes a better barrel than Remington puts on their 700 is a pretty bold statement. Both of my Remington 700's are capable of 1/2 MOA and both have factory barrels.

I have a Howa 1500 .25-06 that I ordered as a barreled action, it has a hogue synthetic stock w/ the full length aluminum bedding block. Should be a pretty accurate combo for the money from everything I've read and heard. My results so far arent terrible, around 2" @ 100 yards shooting off a bag.

Jan 13, 2006 · You shouldn't have to bed any of the barrel on the Howa. You only do it on a military Mauser action because it flexes at the thumb cut-out on the receiver. Remember to put 2 pieces of electrical tape on the front and sides of the barrel lug to get the proper gap. Don't worry about pillars right now.

Apr 15, 2013 · The Howa's are nothing at all like a Mauser. They are much closer to a Remington style action. They are the same basic action as the Weatherby Vanguard. Howa uses different barrels, stocks, triggers, safety's etc., but any after market parts that will fit a Vanguard will fit the Howa. If the price is right they are a decent rifle to build on.

Nov 28, 2015 · JJ45, because of the simplicity of the m700 action. And I wouldn't think that the government would import an action for their sniper builds. For me, the Howa is heavier than the m700, that may not factor in if she's hunting from a blind, but if she's humping across the land I'd opt for a lighter rifle than either of those two.

Jan 21, 2011 · I have a heavy barreled Howa 1500 in .308 that I setup for long range target shooting. It has a Bell & Carlson A2 stock and a Bushnell Elite 4200 Tactical 6-24x50 in Burris XTR rings on an EGW 20 MOA base. It also has a Tac Ops bolt knob in place of the factory knob. It's a very nice way to enter longer range shooting for not too much money.
