Apr 5, 2024 · Hermits Rest was built to resemble an old miner's cabin with native stonework, a giant alcove fireplace, and front porch. It presently offers a gift shop, snack bar, and west end views of Grand Canyon. Restrooms and a water bottle filling station are available outside, behind the main building.

Mar 1, 2025 · Scenic Hermit Road begins on the west side of the Village Historic District. The road follows the canyon rim for 7 miles (11 km) out to Hermits Rest, and the Hermit Trailhead. Along the canyon rim are 9 designated viewpoints. These viewpoints are described on the page and all have shuttle bus stops.

Apr 3, 2025 · The Rim Trail from Bright Angel to Hermit's Rest hike is one of the best-kept secrets on the Grand Canyon's South Rim. The well-maintained and easy to follow Rim Trail winds along the western section of the South Rim, stopping at every marked vista point and making it's way past dozens of others that aren't on the map.

Fittingly, for our last stop on this Bright Angel Bicycle Tour is Hermit's Rest, one of four structures in Grand Canyon National Park designed by Mary Jane Coulter. There is a small gift shop and snack bar here. Our shuttle picked us up and returned to the Visitors Center from this point.

Hermit’s Rest, which at first glance might appear to be a structure hastily erected by an early Euro-American settler at the canyon, is really a carefully constructed building commissioned by the Fred Harvey Company in 1914.
