One big difference is that the grick can make two attacks per turn. So the only change I would make would be to give the spider the multiattack feature so it can make a web attack and a bite attack on the same turn.

WEBThe grick fits pretty nicely in there as a goblin pet so I wouldn't recommend to replace it. Imo, players like to be introduced to new creatures they haven't seen before. It also makes for a cool and terrifying situation, if it gets its sneak attack off on the wizard or Sorcerer and causes a lot of damage that way.

WEBNov 21, 2022 · I’d give the player a bit of a chance here. Maybe since the Grick beat their passive perception, it catches them by surprise still, and is able to block the doorway once they get inside the room, and it starts to rear back, growl and snap at the PC, but not attack.
