The Gombe National Park (/ ˈɡɒmbi, ˈɡoʊmbeɪ /), (Hifahdi ya Taifa ya Gombe, in Swahili) formerly called the Gombe Stream National Park is a national park with the IUCN category II located within the Kigoma District of the Kigoma Region in Tanzania, 16 km (10 mi) north of Kigoma City, the capital of Kigoma Region. Gombe Stream National Park is located in the westernmost region of Tanzania along the shores of Lake Tanganyika. The national park encompasses an area of 14 square miles (35sq km) making it the smallest national park in Tanzania as well as most of Africa .
