Dec 3, 2008 · This question comes up regularly due to new codes, new customers, new architects,etc. Has steel sheeting, galv or galvalume, been classified with a fire rating? Customers are always asking if it has a Class A fire rating.

Nov 1, 2008 · We are currently putting up an outbuilding in Wisconsin. Architect suggested we use a Mill finish Galvalume product. The outbuilding is going to be white board and batten with black windows. Our site gets full sun and I am thinking the galvalume is going to be too light. Is galvalume plus going to have a white appearance in a full sun situation?

Oct 12, 2004 · I am putting on a metal roof put on over a single layer of composition shingle (old). The house is surrounded by pine trees. I have read in some threads here that the pollen and acids from these trees may become a problem for galvalume. I also read that galvalume and galvanized are similar but different products. Should I go with galvanized?

Galvalume has an excellant performance life in bare exposures. Hence if you are usinga bare panel use Galvalume and if painted use either.

Dec 6, 2004 · Uncoated Galvalume has excellant weathering and reflective properties but is low emittance properties. First in the ocean environment I would use an AZ55 coated Galvalume for extra durablity against salt air and you may want to consider a white PVDF paint on it which increases the emittance significantly.

I have noticed after a come rain that there is some areas in which water pools less and a 1/8 inch by 3 feet in diameter. 99.99% of the water drains out but because the slope isn't perfect, there is some left over water.

May 25, 2006 · Both galvalume and galvanized have similar test data and track records. Galvalume may be a bit better for moderate environments. Galvanized perhaps better for real harsh environments or for heavily formed roof panels. Both products will be made better by having a quality paint finish on them.

Also, if I chose the cheaper galvalume with clear coat - what would the finish look like in 15-20 years? All of the above quotes are within $2k.
