Feb 8, 2021 · This means that floating sand is, once again, possible. This method works 100% time, in any direction. also, because of the positioning, you can remove all the blocks, and they will not update the sand, and make it fall.

Is there a command that forces falling sand to stay on the ground as a ghost block forever, and to never break? The result would be something like the one in this video:

Jun 18, 2011 · Rather than trying to do it in-game, you can use MCEdit to achieve the same effect. In MCedit, select an area of air and use the tool to select sand. Save your world, and voila: floating sand. Apparently, sand doesn't start falling until it's interacted with. The idea is that you summon a FallingSand which rides on top of another entity. The problem is, the sand is then floating on top of the entity, so it is not on ground directly.
