On another thread, forum mod twaskom (Tom) brought up the fact that he was using 50 lb Trilene Big Game "fishing" line for leader line and it performed very well for him. I used 50 lb Trilene Big Game "leader" line and it always performed well for me.

Jul 15, 2008 · i go alittle light with the line 15-20. if i'm fishing a heavy rock or timber area where i have to get the fish off the bottom in a hurry i will go 25lb. i like to use my drag rather than to horse the fish in. if your looking for a cheaper flathead rod that will get the job done the cabela's king kat rod and a king kat 2 reel will do the trick.

Jul 8, 2017 · when i first started fishing with a reel i fished salt water.green dot braided dacron was the line of choice.the mono back then was big and stiff while the dacron was soft and supple.i still use dacron on my salt water reels i got one 14/0 shark reel that has over a 1000 yards of 100 lb.test on it and it been on there sence 66.its still as good now as it was then.

Jan 6, 2008 · Suffix Neon does show up but not bright enough to be useful and after a few casts, the brilliant color is gone and you just have a faded, dirty yellow/white line. I now only use fluorescent monofilament lines for black light fishing. Berkley Big Game, Grand Slam and P-Line XXX Hi Vis are my go-to favorites for black light fishing.
