Nov 19, 2016 · I have ordered a Tamiya 1:48 Corsair F4U-1 kit. I want to paint it the dark blue upper color you often see in the Pacific theater. First of all is that even a legitimate color combo for the early F4U's? Second the color is most commonly called Sea Blue. Which with Tamiya equates to their XF-17. Its a flat color but I plan on adding a gloss finish.

Dec 8, 2012 · RE: Byron/Iron Bay F4U Corsair build I agree with Bob on re-enforcing the spar. I'd epoxy ply on both sides of the spar (total 3 layers) as I had a Byron hellcat and the wing broke off due to the metal spar breaking free of that lone ply (bought the plane already built).
