Eutectic Cast Iron welding rod info?
Aug 21, 2008 · It does show a #157 rod which has a high tin content and some silver and melts at 430*F (both solidus and liquidus). Its shear strength is 15K psi. It is "suitable for stainless steel assemblies, brass and bronze components, nickel alloys and most carbon steels when used with Eutectic flux #157.

Anyone ever used Xergon welding and brazing rod?
Oct 28, 2016 · anyone ever used a brazing rod from Xergon, with a pink flux coating for use on stainless kitchen wares. It is approved for food area use. The brazing rod flowed beautiful on any metal, be it steel, copper, brass, stainless. I can't seem to find these nowadays. I have only 2 sticks of the brazing rod left, and I bought them about 1987.

If it does stick to a magnet, it's probably a general-purpose "maintenance" rod like all those companies sell. John.

Jun 15, 2008 · David, I do weld repairs to boiler burner housings, and use either 3/32" MG 600 or 3/32" Allstate 275S Super, once they gave us 680 to use bcause of lack of stock of the MG 600 or the 275S, it was the worst housing job we ever did, according to the product sheets, they are all the same, but they are just enough different to cause problems in the boilers.

May 5, 2013 · Re: Stick welding question - Beauty rod? With a little practice you can get nicer welds than that with 7018. If you want really purty welds, try stainless steel rods (309-16 or -17). Useful to have around and still less expensive than the "miracle" rods. John.
