Jul 22, 2015 · The cool thing about Ditra Heat is that if you find your first layout doesn't work, it's very quick to just pull up all the wire and re-lay it based on some of the variables above, if you don't just have too much like in this case. I would sure recommend switching to another brand of wire (Suntouch is my favorite).
Ditra Heat in shower with mud pan - John Bridge
Dec 2, 2022 · Placing a cut of ditra heat brings it flush nicely. I think I'd go with the second option myself. As for the reason all heat cable manufacturers want a second cable is because the cables can't be repaired inside a shower. Or I suppose more accurately the manufacturer won't perform or cover such a repair, nor warrant the cable after.
Unmodified Thinset to use over Ditra Heat - John Bridge

The DITRA-HEAT is a little different to install from DITRA because the (DITRA-HEAT) matting is a bit stiffer. That's why they (Schluter) recommend the larger 1/4" x 1/4" square-notched trowel. The fleece is a little different too, but they haven't seen it behave differently.
Radiant floor / ditra heat options - John Bridge
Feb 1, 2017 · Running the wire through the Ditra-Heat 'studs' (Schluter's name for the little knobs built into the Ditra-Heat mats) is a piece of cake and if you need to redo it 3 times (and you will!! LOL!), it is further a piece of cake to remove and reinstall until you get it right since you can't cut the heat cable and must use all of it.

Multiple DITRA-HEAT-E-HK heating cables over 16 amps cannot be connected to a single DITRA-HEAT-E-RS thermostat. Additional DITRA-HEAT-E-RS thermostats must be used or a control system comprised of relays and low voltage thermostats may be substituted (if the heating cables are in one room).
