Aug 15, 2008 · I use dental blocks for anyone having lip filler injected. A dental block is done by injecting lidocarine (numbing medicine) into 2 or 4 of the sensory nerves to the lips. Two are injected if only the upper or lower lip is being treated; 4 are injected if both lips are being treated.

Most patients would likely agree that the extra comfort derived from 20-30 minutes of topical numbing, or undergoing a dental block, is well worth it. Relying on the lidocaine that is contained in Juvederm alone to provide sufficient anesthesia is not the most comfortable option.

Jun 22, 2013 · A Dental Nerve Block is a technical term for dental anesthesia. The most commonly used anesthesia is Novocaine. I doubt that your headache is a result of the anesthesia, but is coming from anxiety before and during the dental procedure.

I used 20% Benzocaine where it basically is a gel format and it comes in different flavors. It comes in strawberry and pina colada. We're going to use pina colada, which is actually not a bitter taste at all so patients don't mind it.

Dec 14, 2012 · Very unusual to have sustain numbness and lip muscle paresis from dental block lasting more than a few hours. If the needle traumatized the nerve than this could account for these issues. Or a large amount of HA filler causing swelling + bleeding could be the issues. Or a combination of both.

May 11, 2012 · After the doctor injected dental block under my top lip, right top lip swelled up, the doctor said it was normal. I got injections twice before with D.B. and this never happened. She then injected juvederm into top and bottom lips. Next morning, right side of my top lip was quadruple in size and I was in agony. The pain made my entire head throb.
