Yes, DPu allows for greater performance vs. conventional. However, pulling a train up a steep hill that requires 4 units in a 4x0 set-up that wouldn't make it up the hill in a 3x0 set-up MAY be able to pull the hill in a 2x1 set-up, but at a far lesser speed than the 4x0 train.
