Can someone explain to me why crypt ghast can be in a mono
Jan 3, 2023 · Crypt Ghast could be printed without the reminder text. It could be printed without those symbols being present (even though, to my knowledge, there is no extort card without reminder text). However, Trinisphere is an example of this occurring.

Crypt Ghast) I'm trying to figure out how [ [Crypt Ghast]] or [ [Pontiff of Blight]] are legal in decks without white in the commander's color identity. Thinking this is an easy question, but I figure Im not the only one wondering... Reminder text doesn't count for the purposes of color identity.

Jul 8, 2021 · Yeah, the model looks the same, but if you use it as a crypt ghast courtier (courtier being the hero), it goes on a 32mm base. If you use it as the crypt ghast (being the squad leader) he goes on a 25mm base, just like the rest of the ghouls. Or you can find some other spare body and stick a ghoul head on it! :)

Apr 12, 2013 · Yes, it is definitely possible (and usually very good in a mono black EDH deck). The hybrid WB mana symbol is in the reminder text for the extort ability, and is not an "extort cost." Reminder text doesn't inform a card's color identity. Reminder text is not rules text. Crypt Ghast doesn't have any non-black mana symbols in its rules text.

Sep 15, 2023 · Crypt Ghast definitely is, but it's because of extort imho. Extort is an often overlooked but very powerful mechanic, and it's especially powerful on Crypt Ghast because it can fuel it's own extort triggers. Even just 3 extort activations is 9 extra life. In black this is tremendous because there are so many cards that you have to pay life for.

ghast functions to easily kill chaff for farming deed points while decapitator is a hero killer. They both deal similar damage on average, and since damage spills over they're equally good at deleting chaff. The crypt ghast might manage to spike higher, but then the decapitator gets damage through better against armored foes.

Jan 11, 2013 · Crypt Ghast + anything that you can tap swamps to cast. COMBO. I feel like it may be too slow but you never know till you try. Yeah, this was a concern of mine as well. My plan was crypt ghast + griselbrand/lilliana = some sort of crazy mono-black control thing.

Oct 26, 2022 · Urborg + Coffers + Ghast. I have [ [Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth]], [ [Cabal Coffers]], [ [Crypt Ghast]] and 3 basic swamps on the field. I tap 1 (which generates 2 mana because of Crypt Ghast), activate Cabal Coffers. All my basic lands are swamps thanks to Urborg, so that Cabal Coffers will tap for 5 mana.
