The City of Cresson was incorporated in November of 2001 and the first city council was elected in 2002. The first city limits encompassed two square miles with a half a mile ETJ. Cresson's city limits and ETJ now includes 33 square miles.

Cresson is a city located at the corners of Hood, Johnson, and Parker counties in the U.S. state of Texas. It is located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 377 and State Highway 171, seventeen miles southwest of Fort Worth. Our population is approximately 1014 people.

CRESSON – Various lanes of north and southbound US 377 will be closed in Cresson from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 25-July 2 to prepare for an upcoming traffic shift.

Cresson, like many of the rural communities surrounding it, started its school programs in the one-room schoolhouse. Cresson's schoolhouse was located just west of this site and was torn down in 1890 when a two-story frame school was built here.
