Sep 11, 2018 · It is a 0 weight grease. It will somewhat flow, if you lay a tube down it will run out over time. A regular #2 grease will take forever to do the same thing. It doesn't valley like a regular #2 gun grease will do in a gearbox application. Used by JD first in corn head gathering chain gearboxes where the dirt would eat the seals.

Oct 17, 2022 · When the Corn Head grease is used, and water intrudes, it forms an emulsion that continues to protect under load and at rest. So, use the oils in shifter units, and Corn Head in the others. And, by the way, Lubriplate 105 is assembly lube, not meant for LU use.

May 18, 2017 · Normally gun grease is #2 for viscosity. The white lithium engine assembly lube is #0. Corn head grease is #00 (maybe #000?) which is actually pourable. When poured it will flow but leaves a hump where it was poured, takes a long time to level out.

Jun 7, 2013 · I went by AG-Power Equipment checking on parts at noon and a shop guy was on parts desk. He said that prior to tearing into, spending time replacing seals and protectors to try corn-head grease. It is marked JD and is in a tube like general purpose grease and is used in a standard grease gun. Supposed to turn into a 150 viscosity when it warms up.

Jul 22, 2018 · I use the Deere Corn Head grease in “unsealed” gear cases , seems to be good stuff. The “Cotton Picker” grease that Frank referred to may also be a good choice however I noted that this is grade “OO” , the corn head grease is NLGI “O” grade… assuming that the “O’S” relate to viscosity , not sure which of the two is thicker.

Oct 18, 2007 · This went on for years. Finally found the problem . Also it is a problem to over grease these units. Agco sells two typss of EPO - 707003 is the SYNTHETIC grease for disc mowers and 79014732 is petrol based which is in the corn heads. They will not mix either. The corn head grease at under $3 a tube is a good invesment.

Jun 25, 2020 · EPO grease is the same as John Deere corn head grease. New Idea and Case/New Holland disc mowers use it. We always used in New Holland rake gearboxes. Works good for an 80-90 replacement in a lot of applications.

Nov 27, 2011 · The difference will buy lots of grease, besides it's an 800 series which, while pretty good in their day, are getting old and have long been less desirable as far as resale goes. My suggestion, either patch it enough to make it work, or find a cornhead with the updates already.
