  1. Roof Compression Ring - Structural engineering general discussion

Jan 29, 2006 · The four critical issues for the compression ring-square become as listed below. 2a) Being strong enough for the balanced load, pure compression case. This is pretty easy. 2b) Keeping the ring-square from racking in plan under unbalanced load. 2c) Keeping the ring-square from pitching about a horizontal axis like teeter totter.

  2. Removing compression ring? - DIY Home Improvement Forum

May 4, 2006 · Thanks! Heating the whole compression-ring and nut worked to remove an old compression ring. The copper pipe is short at my toilet, so I coludn't slide the nut back far enough to use a hacksaw or dremmel. I heated the ring (and the nut and pipe too, I suppose) with my cheap propane torch and pulled the nut with a vice grips.

  3. TANK COMPRESSION RING AND RAFTER DESIGN - Eng-Tips

Aug 17, 2020 · -The compression ring could be calculated using ROARK method. In general, circular angle ( made up of plates ) is used. You may prefer to provide more details to get more specific replies.

  4. Compression Ring for API-650 tanks - Eng-Tips

Jun 6, 2012 · Concerning requirements for a compression ring for a tank with a small internal pressure, is the compression ring mandatory? All the figures of F-2 show a ring. My understanding (please confirm it) is that if "participating area" of roof and shell is …

  5. Advise on reusing compression fittings - DIY Home Improvement …

Feb 8, 2011 · I replace compression valves all the time, reusing the old nut and ferrule(I think you called it an olive,I am unfamiliar with that term). I get them pretty tight. Maybe a whole turn to a turn and a half past hand tight. and if it leaks a little, go a little tighter.

  6. API 650 Appendix F Tank's Compression Roof/Shell Junction Area ...

Mar 19, 2024 · I used compression ring detail J (30mm thickness see my sketch above). Roof plate 7mm wall thickness (incl. 2mm CA) with compression ring detail J as per my sketch fulfill Appendix F API650 requirements. This approach is not easy to implement but it is cheaper than use of 25 mm roof plate.

  7. Top Angle, Stiffening Ring, Compression Ring API 650 1 - Eng-Tips

Aug 16, 2017 · Is it the same as top wind girder/stiffening ring? Because I have this weird case, where I found an open-top tank using both top angle and top wind girder. But when the tank is analyzed using formula from API 650 (para 5.9.6)/AWWA D100 (Sec. 3.5), the minimum required section modulus is achieved by using only top wind girder to accommodate the ...

  8. steel Silo compression ring - Structural engineering general

Oct 28, 2010 · The compression ring gets its compression from the tension in the conical hopper, but it also gets bending, torsion and "rolling" due to eccentricity of the hopper shell from the centroid of the ring. A compression ring can buckle, so the buckling length enters into the calculation as well. There have been many failures of silos over the years.

  9. Steel Compression Ring Beam (roof) 1 - Eng-Tips

Dec 21, 2021 · Mat_W: Note that there must be a tension ring at the bearing elev. of all of the rafters. And, the two rafters opposite each other, and the compression ring and the rafter/ring connections at the compression ring, in effect must act like a bunch of three member (2 inclined legs + the ring) rigid frames at 15° (or whatever) intervals around the circle.

  10. RC Compression Ring Design 2 - Eng-Tips

Feb 14, 2011 · 4.) Might the compression ring just be an 8' dia. (8 sided) thickened slab, same depth as the beams; and the beams frame into this, and are just reinforced through it. 5.) Because of reinforcing congestion at the middle, would you make a 4' dia. (8 sided) steel ring structure, and weld rebar couplings to the outside faces of this ring.
