WEBHave chevy sonic believe the year is 2018-2016. Just recently got the timing belt fixed as the code 52 came on in the vehicle, this was maybe mid March or so this year. Just today went to put air in the low tire and noticed the code 52 came on again. Since this just got fixed I feel like there's no reason this code should come on again.

WEBBest thing I suggest as a dealership mechanic is get the extended warranty. An extra $3000 financed with the loan doesn’t add much to the payment but can save you in the long run. I bought a 2016 Sonic LTZ with the 1.4 and 40K miles a month ago and it’s a pretty nice ride. No issues so far.

(No electric windows lol) I got a '15 at 47k miles for 7gs (loan amount included), I got it two years ago and use it for a beer sales. I have put 60k on it in that time and the thing is champ. No fixes, usual maintenance and some tires.

WEBJul 18, 2020 · New stereo system because the stock stereo in the Sonic is shit. Performance intake. I have K&N, there are others if K&N is not your preference. Your Sonic will purr like a kitten with that intake. Performance exhaust from ZZPerformance. The stock exhaust pipe makes the Sonic look cheap. I’ve always hated the look of the stock exhaust.

WEBDec 10, 2020 · You can replace them, but you need to know the diameter of the rod, and replace it with a knob that allows the reverse collar to still be lifted. You can, check the sonic forum i think they have a thread about it. They're press fit so you need probably and a lot of OOMPF to take it off.

WEBJul 18, 2021 · Long story short, I have major problems with my 2012 Chevy Sonic mainly relating to coolant loss. I've taken it to several mechanics who have replaced all the hoses, the thermostat housing, and much more which seemed to help the problem but not actually solve it. I still lose coolant like crazy with no noticeable leaks.

WEBApr 28, 2018 · You just can't beat their reliability. Ok good to know... right now it’s a toss up between the Sonic and Hyundai Elantra. Note that parts won't be a problem for a while. They're supposed to supply them for upwards of 10 years (based on type of part) and there are a lot on the road that will end up as parts cars.

WEBSep 5, 2023 · But I had been dealing with this same issues for months now and the only thing i could find is the door lock actuator being the cause but I messed with some settings. So go into your vehicle setting and its under one of the two lock settings. Turn "ON" unlocked door anti lock out. This fixed my issue.
