Jun 15, 2020 · Installed a 5 frame nuc in 10 frame deep at the start of June. I put an inner cover with a top entrance and then the ceracell feeder Filled with sugar syrup. The first day or two it looked like they found it and would see the odd bee in there taking some syrup. But last 2 weeks not a drop. I would assume this is a good thing.

Mar 20, 2020 · I finally got around to removing the mason jar feeders and installing the small Ceracell feeder on three of my nucs. And we are off to the races. I had been going through a pint every 3-4 days on the stonger nucs. Those same nucs are now going through 1/2 gallon every two days and are drawing new comb very fast, two deep frames in just one week.

Feb 11, 2021 · I have two types of hive top feeders, the Ceracel feeder and a traditional wooden feeder. The Ceracel feeders are the cats meow of hive top feeders. If you want a top feeder, get Ceracel and don't bother with the traditional wooden top feeders. Top feeders are wonderful for feeding a lot of syrup very fast.

Mar 25, 2011 · If you have an open top feeder and use an inner cover that is notched you run a chance of bees drawning in mass as they enter the top using the grove in the outer cover and inner cover. If my inner cover has that grove for a top entrance I don't use it with an open top feeder. I am trying bucket feeders like the one in Rex's post.

Apr 23, 2023 · I did not have any shallow/short boxes so I created ladders for my bees to the feeder by hanging strips of 1/8 hardware mesh from the feeder to the top boxes. I bent the top over, hooked it over the feeder holes, and left the long end down for the bees to climb. The correct size box is a better option though

Jun 13, 2018 · I’m a new beek and I purchased a Ceracell hive top feeder for liquid feed. I thought it would work well, but everyday some bees drown under the white center cover that covers the projection in center of feeder. There are corner access areas which are covered with plastic that allow bees to come up from hive and feed.
