Cayey (Spanish pronunciation:), officially Cayey de Muesas, [2] is a mountain town and municipality in central Puerto Rico located on the Sierra de Cayey within the Central Mountain range, north of Salinas and Guayama; south of Cidra and Caguas; east of Aibonito and Salinas; and west of San Lorenzo.

Su cacique se llamaba Cayey y fue uno de los jefes de la inserrucción taína de 1511, donde fue atrapado, desterrado a La Española y vendió allí como esclavo. También, este municipio se conocía como Cayey de Muesas, en honor al gobernador de la época Don Miguel Caller de Muesas, de origen español.
