Nose: Sweet rye, astringent alcohol, weird rubber (tires?) aroma, medicinal quality, not much going on here. Taste: Sweet corn and rye immediately, followed by some slight wood, light fruitiness.

Feb 11, 2022 · 2 - Nope. Drinkable is a stretch. (Canadian Crest) 3 - Meh. Might be whiskey. (Kessler) 4 - Fine. Serviceable in a cocktail and not much else. (Jim Beam Repeal) 5 - Decent. This is a very average spirit and completely inoffensive. (Old Forester 100, Evan Williams BiB) 6 - Good. This has something interesting in it but not much else going on.

May 5, 2022 · For me, the best 3 Canadian bottles available at the LC's are Lot 40 Rye, Pike Creek, and then whatever, I guess Bearface. For 3 special bottles though, I'd go with Wiser's Wheatfield Gold, Shelter Point (Canadian single malt!), and Wayne Gretzky 99 Proof. Nov 21, 2012 · Alberta Premium Dark Horse Whisky is more of an experimental take on "Canadian" which has a bit of bourbon in the blend and is aged in Sherry casks which give it a deep amber colour. At $29.95 it's a good deal and I don't think Alberta Premium exports outside Canada, so it's also pretty unique as a souvenir.
