WEBJan 29, 2014 — If the machine moves when you push on it, then you need to fix that. If it's moving, it's not going to cut well. It seems there is about 1mm movement between the to gantry sides. this means that when I move the one side of the gantry, it moves about 1mm before the other side also start to move.

WEBNov 18, 2011 — I find that more intuitive when measuring coords and writing code, and it's also the most convenient position to put 0,0 home on my machine... I agree with Roman, and have done the same mainly to move the router out of the way to attached/detach material from the table.

WEBSep 1, 2013 — Surfacing it with something smooth like glazed tile, glass or Formica would really make it slide easier. Another method would be to use long support rollers instead of a shelf, with the rollers spaced 12" or more apart. A rubber roller with ball bearings would probably result in the least amount of friction.

WEBOct 25, 2010 — I plan to use spacer so that the Y axis can move almost the full length of the gantry. A little more progress today. Made and attached small 8020 cuttings to extend the width of gantry. Prepared and attached the 1/4" steel plate to the gantry. Painted the steel on the gantry and the steel support for the X rails.
