Oct 11, 2012 · It's kind of tough to transfer kerosene from a 5 gal jug to a lantern or lamp. With one of the plastic pumps a mess is going to happen, so I bought some of the blue aluminum sport bottles on sale for a $1 and filled five of those and stenciled 'kerosene" on them. For me, they are easier to pour into lamps. I don't have a kerosene heater.

Oct 5, 2008 · Kerosene will last for years as long you keep moisture out of it. I have seen kerosene that was left in a bulk tank 12 yrs old work in a boiler with no problems. Bingo - you can treat it like Diesel or Fuel Oil, but the only real issue is algae growth.

Oct 6, 2009 · The kerosene available at out local gas station is undyed. Yours might have dye. I guess it differs by region and whether or not highway tax is paid on the fuel. Local pump kerosene is more expensive than diesel, but costs much less than the kerosene at Lowe's and Home Depot, which come in 1 or 5 gallon metal cans.

Mar 1, 2014 · I use kerosene in a tower heater. I bought some a few years ago and it was pink/red in color. I filled up a 5 gallon can today and it's either clear or much lighter in color. There was about a quart of the pink kerosene left in it from the previous fill-up so I'm not sure if the new kerosene is simply a lighter color of pink or actually clear.
