In winter waders often roost on the jet-ski ramp, including Purple Sandpipers. There are three main observation points - the lighthouse and beach are to the north of the town and the jet ski ramp at the south of the town.

Holme Bird Observatory: Norfolk Ornithologists' Assoc - 3 miles east of Hunstanton. The seven-acre coastal reserve is a key migration point enabling migrants arriving, leaving or passing through the county to be observed. More than 300 bird species have been recorded here. The area is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

The Hunstaton Cliffs are located on the northern side of Hunstanton and face the Wash bay area. The cliffs are coloured white and red and are famous for their fossils and, of course, the breeding colony of Northern Fulmar .
