By day, Elizabeth (Betsy) Aoki leads tech teams to build social applications, search/metrics products and video games. By night, she writes fiction and poetry, and contributes poetry book reviews to the International Examiner.

Dedicated to ‘ all the women in tech making it happen,’ Breakpoint by Betsy Aoki is a debut poetry collection that combines intense lyrical free verse with found Python “code poems” to explore the modern technological and societal landscape.

Fiction: “Personal Mythology” – Sisyphus has tried to move on, but is forced to confront his past. “On a branch floating down the river, a wren is singing” – a short story that is my stake in the ground regarding the use of AI for creative works. An Ōgama Tale in Seven Voices – I was told to put in “More Toad” and I am not sure I entirely succeeded.

Mar 21, 2022 · Over the past few decades, award-winning poet Betsy Aoki has made varied use of the written word. Following an early career in journalism, Aoki jumped over to the tech world with a 13-year stint at Microsoft, followed by numerous roles in the video game industry – all while concurrently developing her poetic and creative writing.
