Jan 21, 2013 · Just wash the area gently with something like dish detergent a few times and it should gradually go away. But over time if you wipe the paint down or rub and area to remove a contaminate the matte effect is going to be damaged. Mercedes used matte finishes on the bumpers and exterior moldings in the 90's.

It was quite expensive to be honest--$11 each for the primer & clear, and $17 each for the white and pearl (in aerosol cans), and I needed two of each.

It's hard to tell about the paint. It's had a lot of touch up, mostly with a spray can I'd guess. Parts of it have a bit of orange peel texture. Other parts of the paint do look like it was once a good quality paint job at least, and possibly original. I couldn't tell from the online '88 catalogs if the Vainqueur matched this or not.

The touch-up paint you can get at O'reilly Auto Parts (or wherever) and it's the Dupli-Color stuff that you see in the vertical "booklet"/rack of OEM colors. Two coats of color for me, plus the clear coat applicator (it has both color and clear). These MC70s have zero tension adjustment features, so it's just me and my tuning abilities.
