Joseph D. Baker Tower and Carillon - Frederick
Joseph Dill Baker (1854–1938) was known as “Frederick’s first citizen” for his many contributions. This 70-foot granite bell tower was erected in 1941 in his memory. It now houses 49 carillon bells, ranging from 22–3,500 pounds, which are still played.

The Joseph D. Baker Bell Tower, a centerpiece of Baker Park in Frederick, is one of those things that I think about when I think of Downtown Frederick. It's 70 feet high and is totally iconic of the Downtown corridor (Second to the clustered spires of course).

1941: Following Joseph Baker s death in 1938, funds are raised to build a bell tower in his memory. Frederick dedicates the Joseph D. Baker Bell Tower and Carillon in November. 1964: Asa Watkins donates additional land to Frederick for use as park, enabling the park to extend west of Culler Lake.

There's a bell tower in the center of the park that rings. Further back the creek becomes more desolate and overgrown. There's a small suspended bridge that provides great views of the creek.
