  1. To perform CPR on a child or infant, you need to12:
    • Call 9-1-1 and get an AED if available. If you’re alone, do 5 cycles of CPR before leaving to call 9-1-1.
    • Put the child or infant on a firm, flat surface and kneel next to them.
    • Deliver 30 chest compressions. For older children, use the heel of one hand with the other on top. For infants, use two fingers in the center of the chest.
    • Give 2 rescue breaths by tilting the head back and lifting the chin. For infants, cover the mouth and nose with your mouth. For older children, pinch the nose and seal your mouth over theirs.
    • Repeat the cycles of 30 compressions and 2 breaths until help arrives or the child or infant shows signs of life.
