Jan 1, 2008 · Applied the BIN shellac to bare red plastic and over DC primer gray and white. All scenarios worked. Thanks for the BIN shellac recommendation. Hope this helps in your bleed-thru situation. Also, painted some bare red plastic parts with DC black primer and then Tamiya TS-23 Light Blue. No bleed thru.

Aug 15, 2005 · From my experience, it won't damage plastic (sometimes I use this as primer for my model cars if I'm too lazy to go and get plastic primer). It is best applied using airbrush and thinned with Gunze Thinner. The Mr Metal Primer is used to coat, what else, metals of course. It is used for priming etch parts and other metals.

Is it possible to sand the primer coat (tamiya primer, or duplicolor grey auto primer) TOO much? i.e., sanding to a very smooth surface - say, 3200 grit sandpaper - can this negatively affect paint topcoats adhesion?

Give the body three coats of primer, the first one being light, and then leave to harden for 24 hours. Check your filing was done well and that no finishing needs doing. If so, have another go to remove any imperfections and add primer to that area 24 hours later.

Clean w/ soap and water. Clean w/ isopropyl alcohol if poss. Rough up with 80-100 grit sand paper. Round off any sharp edges of the gouge or it will show through later.
