6 days ago · I tried an external microphone plugged into the keyboard but no apps can hear that, seems the mic is only using the speakers on the keyboard. Two people suggested using a powered USB hub and Audio interface, but another person said that because the p-s500 is acting as a audio interface you can't have two audio interfaces so that will not work.

Or, you could just get a digital piano with built in speakers, an all-in-one, and spend time with that. For digital pianos, I'd check out Yamaha and Roland. Incidentally, a digital piano could also be used to trigger virtual instruments in GB via MIDI.

Feb 15, 2018 · You can show a virtual keyboard in GarageBand with the command "Window > Show Musical Typing ⌘K". Or type the key combination ⌘K. This will open the Musical Typing window and you can use the keys of the Mac's keyboard to play music. Just hit the keys A, S, D etc., that are displayed on the Musical Typing keyboard.

Nothing fancy, but not a POS either. It sounds like you are thinking of a keyboard controller - For "nothing fancy but not a POS either" I would recommend M-audio.
