Abraham Tested. 22 Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied. 2 Then God said, “Take your son , your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you. ”

22 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am. 2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac on the altar. He who had received the promises was ready to offer his one and only son, / even though God had said to him, “Through Isaac your offspring will be reckoned.” / Abraham reasoned that God could raise the dead, and in a sense, he did receive Isaac back from death. James 2:21-23

Jun 5, 2024 · God’s command to sacrifice Isaac was to validate Abraham as the “father” of all who have faith in God. “Abraham’s faith was credited to him as righteousness” (Romans 4:9). And we today “who have the faith of Abraham” also find that “he is the father of us all” (verse 16).

Jul 6, 2021 · The story of Abraham and Isaac involves one of the most agonizing test—a trial both men pass because of their total faith in God. God instructs Abraham to take Isaac, the heir to God’s promise and sacrifice him. Abraham obeys, binding Isaac to the altar, but God intervenes and provides a ram to offer instead.

God tells Abraham to take his only son Isaac and sacrifice him to Yahweh on Mt. Moriah. Abraham tells Isaac, 'The Lord will provide.' Just before he kills his son on the altar, God provides a lamb for the sacrifice.
