Mar 17, 2006 · HI every one., I have a challenger 1800 with twin rotax 800 (787) non RFI engines. I know that I have to use the api-tc synthetic oil for it but I looked around everywhere and the only ones that I could find are the CASTROL api-tc MINERL oil and the MOTUL TCW-3 synthetic oil.

Jun 30, 2007 · Re: what if TCW3 motor oil was used instead of API-TC No, it did not cause the breakdown. They recommend you to use low ash oils so the wear and tear on the rotary valve surface is less and the rave valves are less prone to geting gummed up with residue from the oil.

The TC-W3 is also probably 'ashless' where as the API-TC is 'low ash'. Ashless is especially bad for RAVE valve's as it causes them to stick and gumb up.
