Sep 22, 2021 · I shoot 45 super through my P220st regularly. Heavier spring made it pretty easy to do. It's a hard hitting round and will beat on the gun a bit. With a 24# spring my Springfield 1911 handled it fine and did well with it at the range last night.

Feb 3, 2020 · Actually most Civip Defense ammo is +p for that reason. You need the extra pressure to get the velocity of a longer barrel. Any round made for defense for a concealed carry gun is going to be +p. Now you can shoot regular ammo too you just don't get the velocity like you do with say a 4in barrel. You want +p ammo for a short barrel gun.

Nov 16, 2003 · There are not a lot of choices for self-defense ammo in .38 Super, unless you prefer hardball (FMJ) ammo for that task. The Winchester 125 grain Silvertip HP is a good choice, IMO. Cor-Bon has 115 and 124 grain JHPs that are pretty hot. However, when I last tried them, they had a huge flash and blast.
