I keep hearing that 16gb is still enough for gaming yet i see many games maxing out my 16gb (Tarkov, total war campaign map, R6, watch dogs 2 and legion etc.) I also know for a fact that more ram helps with stutters and microstutters.

WEBMay 8, 2023 · 32gb is standard as most kits are sold in 16 or 32gb. It depends what you play/ use computer for. in general I'd say it's not overkill. I can max out 16gb pretty easily with a decent game and a few programs running. I think, in most cases, 4 sticks of ram is inferior to 2 sticks.

I had 16gb forever and saw a deal for 32gb of Ballistix 3200 show up for $90, I pick those up and upgraded. I later used my old ram in another build and sold that for close to what the new ram cost.

Get 32gb, no extra need for 64gb unless you do 4k and 8k video editing, for ddr4 3600mhz or 4000mhz will be good, for ddr5 5600mhz or 6000mhz, if you are getting ryzen 5000 get 4000mhz ddr4, if your getting ryzen 7000 get 6000mhz ddr5. WEBMay 1, 2022 · Once I upgraded from 16 to 32 it went away completely. In general, strategy games like the above or Cities: Skylines come to mind. But as others have said, multitasking with Chrome, Discord etc. also needs to be considered. I think we're at the point of seriously needing to consider 32GB for high-end builds.
