To answer your other question, 0 is always impossible on any die which begins its count at 1. If you were to say there is a (1/30)*(1/30) chance of it happening, you are really only referencing ONE out of THIRTY different ways of rolling the same number twice.

For a value different than 7 the chances out of 36 is one less than 6 for the difference between it and 7. The chance of a 5 is 4 in 36 because 5 is 2 away from 7. 6 - 2 = 4.
