I have an 07 Avalon. Toyota hasn't learned anything. I have this noise. It sounds as if it's coming from the dash but sometimes from the passenger door. And it's when the temp is in the 40s or below. None when car was new. After about 2000 to 3000 miles it came. Not all the time - viturally none when warm outside to almost all the time when colder.

I recently purchased a 2002 Avalon XLS, 29K miles, from a Toyota dealer with a certified used car certificate. The FUEL RANGE GUAGE on the information area of the dash read 260 miles and the fuel guage itself was at the 3/4 mark when I filled with gas for the first time.

Toyota Avalon's XLS fron 2000 to 2004 with rain sensing wipers did not have this defect, it only started with the new model in 2005. Toyota says no one has reported this problem but my self and that they do not intend to fix it with only one complaint.

Since the Avalon is so big, I ran the wipers and then stopped the engine when the main wiper was right over the steering wheel, making access easy! Changing the wipers was then a snap. However, ever since I did that the wipers won't park and don't run on intermittent!
