The hunter who brought it to my neighbor (a butcher) told me this was the second time with the TTSX he had to shoot the elk multiple times. All bullets punched through like an FMJ. 7 times on this one and 6 on the elk the year before.

Legs, ribs (separated from the spine), backstrap, tenderloins, all trim from the neck, and any flank or trim meat, 580 lbs. I would say average bull in Colorado, quartered with the spine, is in the 300 lbs range, minus backstrap and tenderloins.

I was on him just behind front shoulder but the bullet entered through back quarter and went all the way through him and got lodged in the opposite shoulder blade.

I hunted there for cow elk last October and most of the elk I saw were bulls Lots of rag horns But a good amount of 280 to 340 class bulls. I also drew for bull in early december of 09 in 22 north. My father in law was a forest service ranger in that area for 32 years so i guess we kind of have an edge.
